The international activities of Elabuga Institute of KFU are carried out in accordance with the University Development Program and the Competitiveness Enhancement Program.

Achievement of the assigned tasks is ensured by the implementation of program activities, grouped according to the following areas of international cooperation:

1. Organization by the Institute of international conferences, forums, meetings and other events;

2. Contacts with various international organizations, research centers, universities, etc.;

3. Participation of foreign specialists in the educational and scientific activities of the university;

4. International internships for the teaching staff;

5. Participation of employees and students of the Institute in international events (conferences, seminars, exhibitions, competitions) abroad;

The Institute regularly hosts major international conferences, which are attended by scientists from Germany, Great Britain, Czech Republic, Latvia, Spain, Japan, France, Turkey, the USA, Kazakhstan, the Ukraine: The International Turkological Readings, The Tsvetaeva and The Stakheev Readings, etc.

“The International Festival of School Teachers in Elabuga” brings together innovative teachers from all municipal districts of Tatarstan, a number of constituent entities of the Russian Federation, countries of near and far abroad. It has become an innovative platform for mastering the advanced pedagogical experience of Russian teachers and their foreign colleagues, as well as a platform for introducing scientific ideas of domestic and foreign scientists representing higher professional schools. The festival was recognized by the pedagogical community as a successful innovative form of pedagogical communication and professional development. Every year more than 500 practicing teachers take part in the festival, among them winners of the annual contests “Teacher of the Year”, as well as specialists from Russia, Germany, Poland, Spain, Latvia, Holland, the Ukraine, Thailand, Switzerland, Israel, the USA, etc.

Elabuga Institute of KFU colloborates with international educational and scientific structures from many countries of the world (France, Germany, Turkey, Singapore, Czech Republic, China, Israel, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan), has a successful experience in implementing international projects within such programs as DAAD and Fulbright.

The Institute has opened a Center for the Study of the Chinese Language and Culture (jointly with the Confucius Institute) and a Testing Center for Russian as a Foreign Language (jointly with Moscow State University).

Annually, foreign specialists are invited to deliver lectures and carry out research work at Elabuga Institute of KFU, among them Zhenwen Li (China, Hunan University); Hope Johnson (the USA, Gordon College); Rosa Leikin (Israel, University of Haifa); David Moon (the UK, York University); Stephen Brain (the USA, University of Mississippi); Khayrov Shamil Vyaliullovich (Scotland, Great Britain, University of Glasgow); Benedict Le Pans (France, Sports Federation); Alexander Fedorovich Stroyev (France, Sorbonne University); Mark Leikin (Israel, University of Haifa); Gabriela Lenka von Dühring-Creel (Switzerland, Montessori School in Lucerne); Julia Koinova-Zelner (Germany, Dresden University of Technology); Inessa Vladimirovna Zubrilina (Belarus, Belarusian State Pedagogical University named after Maxim Tank); Kozinets Lidia Aleksandrovna (Belarus, Belarusian State Pedagogical University named after Maxim Tank); Roman Sergeevich Voitekhovich (Estonia, University of Tartu), Choshanov Murat Ashirovich (the USA, The University of Texas at El Paso). Besides, close cooperation has been established with some of the foreign specialists: Kudryavtseva Ekaterina Lvovna (Germany, Institute of Foreign Languages and Media Technologies, University of Greifswald) heads the International Laboratory with distributed participation of Elabuga Institute of KFU; Ivan Gololobov (Great Britain, professor of the University of Warwick) is the external director and scientific consultant of the Center for the Study of Youth Cultures of the Institute; on the basis of Elabuga Institute of KFU, the Center for Environmental History is also successfully developing, which has managed to win the respect of foreign colleagues.

Every year, within the framework of international collaboration, members of the teaching staff of the institute go abroad (for internships, advanced training, research work, concluding agreements, etc.).

The academic staff of the institute take part in international events (conferences, seminars, exhibitions, competitions) and regularly publish scientific papers in foreign publications.

Since 2011, the institute has been successfully recruiting foreign students: vocational guidance trips to countries of the near and far abroad are being organized, agreements are being concluded with foreign schools, and Olympiads are being held for foreign students. Foreign citizens from Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan and other countries study at Elabuga Institute of KFU.
