History of the Department of Pedagogy is associated with the name of famous Russian scientist – Professor, academician of the Russian Academy of education Valentin Ivanovich Andreev, who managed it from 1985 to 2010. During this period, academician  Andreev has created a scientific school, focused on the development of creative self-development of competitive personality.

Department is focused on the problems of pedagogy of higher school, especially, creative personal self-development of future University graduates, including teachers. The reason for this is a subject-oriented approach and introduction of interactive technologies in training of competitive high school graduates. Significant part of the Department research concerns modernization of pedagogical education in the conditions of classical University.

Department offers the following academic programs:

- teacher of secondary (general) education (Master's Degree);

- teacher of vocational education (Master's Degree);

- teacher of vocational education (Bachelor's Degree).

Department of education has strong scientific connections with University of London (UK), Sofia University (Bulgaria), Dresden Technical University (Germany), University of Giessen (Germany) University of Texas (USA), University of Balikesir (Turkey), etc.
