History of Kazan psychology begins in 1885, when Vladimir Bekhterev established the first in Russia psychophysiological laboratory at the Department of mental diseases (psychiatry).
An outstanding scientist, neurologist, psychiatrist, physiologist, psychologist Vladimir Mikhailovich Bekhterev was working at the Kazan University from 1885 to 1893 as a Professor of the Department of mental diseases.
Currently the Department is actively carrying out research and development in the following areas: person as a subject of development and self-development: processes, mechanisms, techniques; psychology of creative personality development of the student.
