Department of Education and Upbringing Methods dates back to 1877, when the Kazan Teachers' Training Institute started teaching pedagogical disciplines.
At different times research pursued by this Department was focused on the study of the history of education and pedagogical thought, development of cognitive independence and activities of schoolchildren, theory of problem-based learning, social pedagogy, historical and theoretical foundations of teacher education as well as the development of management problems in the education system. Currently, Center for research work considers the issues of identifying and realizing the educational potential of a future teacher.
