In the educational process of teaching foreign languages, the lecturers at the Department of Theory and Practice of Teaching Foreign Languages combine native and foreign methods of teaching and education technologies, practice the individual approach in teacher training and language practice and research work.
The international cooperation agreements with foreign universities give our undergraduate students an opportunity of internship abroad to improve their foreign language skills and acquire new information in the field of education and linguistics.
The lecturers and professors of the Department take an active part in scientific research projects and present the results of their work at different international conferences and symposiums. They are also the members of many international organizations like “Europhras”, DAAD, Tempus, NATE.
The Department of Theory and Practice of Teaching Foreign Languages collaborates with the University of Bamberg (Germany), the University of Lancaster (the UK), the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (the USA), University College London (the UK), the University of Žilina (the Slovak Republic), Masaryk University (the Czech Republic), the University of Giessen (Germany), Arizona State University (the USA) and the Technical University of Dresden (Germany)
One of the scientific projects implemented by the Testing Research Group is devoted to the testing systems and modern tendencies in evaluation of the level of foreign languages. The objective of the project is to elaborate learning resources which will develop the competencies and practical skills of language testing and evaluation to increase the competitive abilities and the mobility of students. The program is implemented in cooperation with several European universities.
