The Department of Computer Mathematics was founded in 1988. In 2001 it was renamed into the Department of Computer Science and Discrete Mathematics.

The Department carries out teaching of the entire spectrum of computer science disciplines at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, and also a number of IT subjects at other faculties.

Since 2011 the Department supervises the baccalaureate in Applied Informatics in Economics. 

The Department provides the use of modern computer technology in the research, educational and methodological work:

• methodological and consulting support of organizations located in Elabuga and Elabuga District in the development of new information technologies;
• informational and methodological support of the educational process;
• development of information technology, high-performance computing and high-speed networks;
• organizational and methodological support of new teaching methods using modern means of communications, including distance education technologies and open education;
• monitoring of processes of introduction of information technologies in educational process of educational institutions of all types and levels;
• methodological support of the experimental IT platforms at educational institutions in Elabuga.

Our main research area is IT education.
