Department of Management Accounting and Controlling (originally Department of Accounting of the Kazan Institute of Kazan and Economics) was established in 1931.
Currently the department is headed by Professor Roza Kaspina - Honorary Worker of Higher Professional Education of Russia, member of the working body of the Council on Auditing Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation, member of the Training Council of Association of Russian universities in Accounting, Analysis and Audit, member of the European Accounting Association, the UN expert in accounting and audit education (UN, UNCTAD, ISAR, Geneva).

Educators of the department regularly participate in training, retraining and advanced training of professional accountants and auditors.
We strive to use all the possible teaching methods: business games, online seminars with representatives of other leading universities, master classes with experienced practitioners in accounting, analysis and audit. Lots of attention is paid to case studies. Electronic educational materials are widely used in the teaching process.
Our research pertain to managerial accounting and controlling, including problems of improving accounting, management accounting, IFRS and relationship management accounting, reporting and system management.
The priority areas of scientific research are:
- Organization of management accounting and controlling;
- The use of IFRS for management needs;
- Integrated financial reporting;
- Accounting and analytical support for value-based management.
