Golovkinsky, Nikolay Alekseevich (1834 - 1897), a geologist, professor, and writer, graduated from Kazan University with a Candidate degree in 1861 and was suggested the post of museum curator at the University Geology Section. In 1877-1881 he headed Novorossiysk University. Conducting geological and hydro-geological researches on Crimea Peninsular Golovkinsky was one of those who organized the first "artesian observatory" as a model of hydro-geological station. Full member of St. Petersburg Mineralogy Society (since 1867) he took part in several meetings of Russian naturalists.

Stukenberg, Aleksandr Antonovich (1844 - 1905), a geologist, paleontologist, professor, graduated from the Department of Physics and Mathematics of St. Petersburg University. In 1880 he was elected as the Chairperson of Kazan University Naturalists' Society. On the whole his researches were dedicated to different fields of geology, mainly paleontology and biostratigraphy of Upper Paleozoic. He was also a professional archaeologist and collected minerals.

Krotov, Pyotr Ivanoich (1852 - 1914), a geologist, geographer, Honored professor, graduated form Natural Science department of the Mathematics and Physics of Kazan University in 1878. From 1879 to 1888 he worked in the Geology Section and took part in many congresses, including International Geology Congress in St. Petersburg in 1897. He published more that 100 works on geology, geography, etc.

Nechayev, Aleksey Vasilyevich (1864 - 1914), a geologist, professor, graduated from the Department of Physics and Mathematics of Kazan University, was appointed the Geology Section curator in 1889. His main works were devoted to stratigraphy and paleontology of Paleogene sediments of the Volga Region and Upper-Permian rocks of Eastern and North-Eastern European part of Russia. In 1899 Nechayev was conferred a Doctor's Degree.
