This article presents the findings of the researches conducted in the framework of the scientific project1led by the University of Giessen during the period from January 2007 to December 2009 with the support of the German Research Community2. Tatar terminology is observed in this article on the material of Tatar textbooks on geography, geometry and physics from the beginning of the 20th century up to 2006. Tatar was in close contact with other languages which had a huge influence on the literary language and its terminology. Over the last century, changes in Russian state policy have been determining the language policy towards the Tatar language, and Tatar terminology in particular.
