Jacobs University is a private, international residential university in Bremen, Germany. We offer a Foundation Year for students who would like to gain the qualifications necessary for undergraduate studies in an English-speaking university. The program also provides you with orientation in core academic subjects to support you in deciding for your ultimate fields of study. The tailor-made academic program (September 2014 – May 2015) builds upon students’ existing language, subject and study skills while they live and learn on campus with students from over 100 nations.
Language of instruction in the small study groups is English. Participants are thoroughly prepared for the SAT college admissions test and can choose between foundation tracks in Engineering, Natural Sciences or Economics and Management. You may also attend a German language course and apply for a German host family, who will facilitate integration into life in Bremen. Attractive excursions throughout the region and Europe (for example Berlin and Brussels) allow you to explore European culture.
Foundation Year students also have the option of visiting regular undergraduate courses to gain credits that can be transferred to their future undergraduate program. Those who successfully complete the Foundation Year and reach Jacobs admissions criteria will be accepted into a Jacobs Bachelor program or can apply to other English-speaking institutions worldwide.
Admissions are open now and we accept applications online until June 15th.
