Kazan University signing cooperation agreements with the University of Havana and the Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology

Kazan University represented by its Rector Ilshat Gafurov has signed two agreements with the University of Havana and the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) in Havana.

The signing ceremony was held last Sunday, November 2, at Tatarstan exhibit at the 32nd FIHAV Havana International Fair, in the presence of Rustam Minnikhanov, President of Tatarstan, and Mikhail Kamynin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia in Cuba.

The Tatarstan delegation was taken for an excursion around the Centre for Genetic engineering and Biotechnology in Havana, including the biopharmaceuticals laboratory producing B hepatitis B vaccine.  

Rustam Minnikhanov met with Cuban students who studied at Tatarstan universities in the 1980s. Tatarstan President advised the students to practice their Russian and invited them to the celebrations of the 210th anniversary of Kazan University and the traditional Tatar festival Sabantuy.

Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, is an institution of a dynamic development which has reached a high level of research, development, production and commercialization of biological products obtained through the methods of modern biotechnology. It plays an integrative role in the field of Cuban Biotechnology, with high scientific and technical capabilities. Its performance is projected towards research to generate knowledge for the further development of new products, services and commercial activities, based on a quality system that ensures the satisfaction of our customers taking into account the environmental dimension. Its impact is bound to human health, agricultural production, aquaculture and the environment.
