On Wednesday, September 3, the 12th International Congress of Social Sciences in Turkic World opened in KFU.

For 2 days the Turkic world experts from Turkey, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Macedonia, Iran, Afghanistan and Russia have shared the results of their researches focused on a wide range of issues: history, culture, economics, politics of Turkic countries and discussed perspective cooperation o Tatarstan, Kazan and KFU with the Turkic world.  In total, 189 reports have been presented, 30 of them prepared by scientists of Kazan Federal University.

Linar Latypov, KFU Vice Rector for International Relations, kicked off the Congress with a welcome speech, having underlined the importance of the event organized at Kazan University the year when Kazan was assigned the capital of the Turkic world.

Kozhan Yazgan, the Chairman of Turkic World Research Foundation, also addressed the Congress participants with welcoming words saying that from his point of view, Kazan was “a door to the Russian Federation”.

Yesterday, Linar Latypov met with the Congress partcipants - Kozhan Yazgan, Dr. Ahmet Vecdi Can,  the Congress Coordinator, Sinan Oğan, Deputy of Turkish Parliament, rectors and scientists of Turkish universities. KFU Vice Rector for International Relations spoke on the Kazan University activities, focusing on the areas perspective for cooperation. Dr. Muzaffer Elmas, Rector of Sakarya University, expressed his interest in scientific partnership between his university and KFU. Linar Latypov invited researchers from Sakarya University to Kazan to see KFU facilities and get to know scientists.

Kazan University had already signed cooperation agreements with Adiyaman and Gazi Universities, so at the meeting the heads discussed further strengthening of collaboration. Dr. Emin Kuru, Adviser to the Rector of Gazi University, suggested deepening of cooperation between students by means of the organization of joint summer camps.

Sinan Oğan, summing up the meeting, emphasized that the Parliament of Turkey was interested in partnership with Russia, Tatarstan and would support further interrelations between KFU and Turkish researchers.
