 The 3rd International Conference 'Current Issues of Geodesy and Geo-Information Systems' at KFU

The 3rd International Conference “Current Issues of Geodesy and Geo-Information Systems” opened at Kazan University as a part of Tatarstan Oil, Gas & Petrochemicals Forum yesterday.

About 120 experts in geodesy, exploring, mining geodesy, and GIS (geographical information system) discussed crucial issues and perspectives of the field in Tatarstan, the use of geo-information systems by state and regional governments, and other topics.

The first section meeting was held in the conference hall of the Engelgardt Astronomical Observatory, after which the participants arrived at KFU Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies to see the presentation of the advanced geodesy training programme run at the Centre for Adult Education, Quality Management and Marketing.

The Centre is a part of the Russian President's Programme of Training Engineers for 2013-2014, that comprises the organization of internships in major Russian and world research centres. Today the Centre for Adult Education, Quality Management and Marketing offers 14 training programmes, the curriculum of each programme may be adapted to a customer and covered in a distance mode as all the materials are available online in Moodle system.  

Finally, the attendees were presented the lab facilities of the KFU Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies, 3D GEO Centre Laboratory for geological and hydrodynamic modeling, in particular.
