KFU participates in International Law Forum under patronage of Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev

May 16-19: Ildar Tarkhanov, Dean of KFU Law School, together with an undergraduate and two graduate students attended 2nd Saint Petersburg International Law Forum with participation of Russia’s Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and high-level politicians from Russia, Europe USA, China representing exe­cutive, legislative and judiciary powers. 

Among discussed issues on the first day were problems of law education, lawyer’s social mission, entrance into law field and moving within it, job search, legal illiteracy of masses and providing legal aid. KFU students took an active part speaking at panels and using cases from Tatarstan.

The second day highlighted issues of “Open Government” connected with establishing feedback mechanisms between the government and the public. Dmitry Medvedev spoke in the plenary “Legal policy in 21st century: new challenges in global world”. Issues of international cooperation were discussed by an authoritative international experts, including Wu Aiying, Chinese Minister of Justice, Eric Holder, US Attorney General, Kenneth Clarke, UK Secretary of State for Justice and Lord Chancellor, etc.
