Dr. Halit Eren, IRCICA Director General, visiting KFU

As a part of his trip to participate in the 6th Bolgar Forum, Dr. Halit Eren, Director General of the Research Centre for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA), visited Kazan Federal University on Thursday, 21 August.

Dr. Halit Eren met Ramil Khairutdinov, the Head of the KFU Institute of International Relations, History and Oriental Studies, and discussed activities to implement projects outlined in the cooperation agreement signed by IRCICA and KFU last October.

IRCICA Director got to know the progress results of the KFU Archaeometry Centre of Excellence where a number of research laboratories had been launched, such as Paleoantropology and Paleogenetics, Information Technologies and Noninvasive Methods for Studying Cultural Heritage Sites, Archeotechnologies and Archeological Material Sciences, Paleoecology and Paleoarchaeometry, Interdisciplinary Innovative and Scientific Archeological and Ethnological Researches.

Ramil Khairutdinov and Airat Sitdikov, the Director of the Institute of Archeology, reported on the results of the Institute's researches in the development of new technologies for renewal and preservation of Bolgar and Sziyazhsk monuments that Dr. Halit Eren had visited the previous day.

The attendees returned to the issue of equipping Kazan University with devices for restoration and digitization of unique ancient manus­cripts; and Dr. Halit Eren invited his colleagues to come to Istanbul in September for further discussion. 

IRCICA is an international institution active in the fields of research, publishing, documentation and information. Its mandate covers multifarious themes in the fields of the history of Muslim nations, history of arts and sciences in Islam, and other subject areas in Islamic culture and civilisation. By means of these activities, IRCICA aims at studying and better introducing the Islamic culture and civilisation throughout the world and acting as a catalyst for research and cooperation in these areas to promote mutual understanding between Muslims and with other nations and cultures of the world.
