KFU Delegation at the 26th International Olympiad in Informatics

The 26th International Olympiad in Informatics held on July 13-20 in Taipei, Taiwan, gathered 311 schoolchildren from 83 countries of the world, including Russia.

International Olympiad in Informatics has been organized under the auspices of UNESCO since 1989 and is one of the most prestigious science competitions for high school students in the world. The total number of participants including team leaders, members of the organizing, scientific and technical committees, volunteers and guests mounted to over 800 people.   

The official delegation of the Russian Federation included the representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia, Ministry of Education and Science of Tatarstan, Ministry of Communication and Information Technology of Tatarstan, and Kazan Federal University. The KFU delegation was headed by Lyudmila Nugumanova, Adviser to KFU Rector, Director of the Department of Pre-University, General and Pedagogical Education. The Olympiad program included a competitive part, scientific conferences, meetings with delegations from different countries, city tours so that each participant could get to know the history, culture and traditions of Taiwan.

The competitions comprised two rounds. With two golds and two silvers the Russian team came in third in final rating, after the teams of China and the USA.

By a decision of the International Olympiad Committee and order of the Government of Russia, the 2016 International Olympiad in Informatics will be held in Russia, in Kazan Federal University, on August 12-19.  It will be the first time in 20 years that such a large-scale event is hosted by Russia.
