On June, 26 during the meeting of International Interdepartmental Research and Methodic Expert Panel of the Republican Foundation for Reconstruction of Historical and Cultural Monuments, Rector of Kazan Federal University Ilshat Gafurov mentioned a number of important initiatives directed at implementation of research objectives in exposure, study, preservation and promotion of cultural heritage of Sviyazhsk island.

Rector underlined that Kazan Federal University had become an ultimate platform for creating new technologies, methods for reconstruction of past using state-of-the-art scientific results. Currently KFU has concentrated the most efficient opportunities for developing interdisciplinary research with active engagement of chemists, physicists, geodesists, biologists, experts in IT technologies and medicine.

Rector informed the State Counselor of the Tatarstan Republic Mintimer Shaimiev on establishment of the Center of Excellence "Archeometry and Bioarcheology" consisting of five research laboratories: Archeological reconstruction and ancient technologies; Palaeoecology, Palaeoanthropology and palaeogenetics, Geoinfomation and non-destructive methods of studying, Natural scientific age dating.

Currently this project appears to be the most prospective one in humanitarian sphere, breakthrough in the archeological science of the highest European level.

Director of KFU Institute of International Relations, History and Oriental Studies Ramil Khairutdinov and Head of Department of Archeology and Ethnology, Director of the Institute of Archeology of the Academy of Sciences of Tatarstan Republic Airat Sitdikov was offered to take into account international standards and requirements to research and methodic support of museumfication of island    objects, constant monitoring of monuments condition, deployment of research and restoration laboratory.
