Kazan is a Capital of Magnetic Resonance

On June, 23 KFU hosted International scientific conference devoted to 70-th anniversary of electron magnetic resonance discovery by Yevgeny Zavoisky.

More than 150 scholars from 17 countries will take part in the scientific forum to be held from June, 22 to June, 27. The program includes all the theoretical aspects and modern applications of magnetic resonance methods in physics. The conference papers will be published in the special edition of Applied Magnetic Resonance journal.

The opening ceremony started with a speech of Rector Ilshat Gafurov who described contribution of Yevgeny Zavoisky to the development of various research areas at the University. Three out of four KFU priority areas of development use methods of magnetic resonance as an engine for the progress. The Rector’s speech was followed by academician, Director of International tomography center of the Siberian branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences Renad Sagdeev.  He emphasized that “at the present stage of science development Kazan is still the capital of magnetic resonance”.

Prime-Minister Ildar Khalikov came to greet the prominent scholars on behalf of Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and Government of the Republic of Tatarstan.  According to him, the methods of magnetic resonance made significant contribution to the regional development. Primarily, it regards the technology of nuclear and magnetic resonance which is employed at the development of oil deposits.

The member of Presidium of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, Director of Kazan E.K. Zavoisky Physical-Technical Institute Kev Salikhov declared the resources of electron paramagnetic resonance to be inexhaustible.

After the solemn ceremony the guests paid a visit to Museum-laboratory of E. Zavoisky.

XVII international school for youth "Actual Problems of Magnetic Resonance and its Applications" will be held alongside with the conference. The best reports of young scientists will be awarded.
