Professor from Kazan University on the 42nd Meeting of the Shakespeare Association of America

Associate Professor from the Department of Theory and Practice of Translation of the Institute of International Relations, History and Oriental Studies, Vladimir Makarov took part in the 42nd annual meeting of the Shakespeare Association of America held in St. Louis (USA). This association unites about 1000 researchers from the USA, Canada and it is open for international members.

 

Having come back, Mr. Makarov shared his impressions on international forum:

For the first there was held a presentation of Shakespeare Internet-projects in the form of Digital Room. Three projects out of 16 were presented by Russian scholars. Each team was granted a separate exhibition stand where it was possible to present the project on-line. Visitors of the Digital Room passed from one desk to the other getting acquainted with all projects.

 

More than 50 researchers were interested in our exhibition stand, they noticed its potential, humanitarian significance and design.

Presented projects reflected all the achevements of digital humanities including collobative databases, geotaging, imaging tools, data mining, multimedia and text integration.

Participants visited 9 plenary meetings, took part in 55 seminars and 10 round tables, watched several performances, attended book fair and official reception in Peabody Opera House within three days of intense work.
