KFU-RIKEN: new stage of cooperation

May 2 - Kazan Federal University met the delegation from the Japanese largest Institute of Physical and Chemical Research RIKEN, headed by the president of the institute, Nobel Prize winner in Chemistry in 2001, Professor Noyori Ryoji.
The visit began with a tour of the Institute of Physics and the new laboratories. KFU professor Tayursky in 2002 initiated the cooperation between Kazan University and Riken during his visit to the newly established Center for Nanotechnology and RIKEN Laboratory for Low Temperature Physics. Prof. Tayursky has had long-standing scientific contacts with the head of laboratory of Prof. K. Kono, and often made reports at his seminars at the University of Tokyo. The logical development of these relations was the signing in August 2008 the Agreement on the joint program of graduate studies. The main purpose of the Agreement is the preparation of highly qualified specialists in the field of physics. Supervision of the research work is done by Japanese and Russian scientists, and received Ph.D. degrees of international standard are recognized by both countries.
KFU rector Ilshat Gafurov officially launched a set of joint research laboratories KFU - RIKEN consisting of three laboratories: Laboratory of femtosecond spectroscopy, Laboratory physics of strongly correlated systems and Laboratory of synthesis and analysis of thin-film systems.
