Director of KFU Branch in Elabuga, Ms. Elena Merzon, told the attendees about the Institute development prospects. Thus, students are trained in 41 fields (versus 13 in the past), 18 training laboratories have been modernized, 2 research laboratories have been created and 70 electronic educational resources developed in the Institute by now. She paid special attention to 3 faculties: the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics, Faculty of Biology and Faculty of Engineering and Technology: tremendous amounts of money have been invested in their development and material and technical facilities creation, but now they are lacking training premises and facilities. It is planned to organise a unified laboratory complex and unite all the three faculties of natural sciences.

Chairmen of Education Boards of municipal districts present at the sitting of the Board of Trustees offered to create basic schools in their districts.

KFU Branch in Elabuga actively works with schoolchildren: Children’s University is functioning on its basis, intellect and health improvement camps IntelLeto and Khyial work in summer time, and a new project – “Summer School of Physics and Mathematics” – will be launched this year.

Secondary vocational education is a lacking link in the educational cluster “School – higher education institution”. There are 3 ways to seal this gap: cooperation with Elabuga Polytechnic College (students can be taught blue-collar trades on its basis), small innovation enterprise creation under Elabuga Institute (requires license) and secondary vocational education licensing in the institute. The members of the Board of Trustees haven’t yet arrived at a consensus on this question.

Furthermore, it was offered to establish special scholarships and grants of the Board of Trustees at its first sitting. The scholarships will be granted to students especially talented in various fields of science. The grants will be awarded to faculty with the purpose of research and educational project implementation.

The next sitting of the Board of Trustees will be held this autumn.
