KFU Student, Nataliya Zhukova, Was Selected for the Russian Olympic Skiing Team

The official site of the Russian Federal Ski Race (FLGR) reported that 12 men and 8 women would represent the Russian Olympic skiing team. A student of the Institute of International Relations, History and Oriental Studies of KFU, Ms. Nataliya Zhukova, was selected for the women’s national team.

The sportsman succeeded at junior tournaments, particularly, at the World Youth Championship, during which Natasha managed to win a golden medal in two kinds of sports simultaneously: marathon race and skiathlon. The junior became the winner of the Russian Youth Championship in marathon held in Apatity. As for skiathlon, the sportsman became the champion of Russia among juniors and thus was selected for the World Youth Championship. Ms. Nataliya Zhukova is a Master of Sports in Skiing. Nataliya Zhukova’s victory in the World Youth Championship not only became the most important achievement in her career, but also added a golden medal to the Russian collection of medals, which was the first over the last 7 years.

In 2013 the sportsman took part in 14 competitions in Russia, Finland, Italy, Norway and Czech Republic. This year the skier Nataliya Zhukova took part in the World Cup for the first time. She managed to demonstrate a good result and became one of the top thirty sportsmen. Ms. Zhukova once took part in the World Championship in 2013 and occupied the 33rd place.

Ms. Nataliya Zhukova is a top prospect skier of the Russian national team. During the Olympics she will have a chance to demonstrate her abilities and continue her career with victories in women’s competitions. We hope that Nataliya will return in triumph to Kazan.

Ms. Nataliya Zhukova is a Master of Sports of Russia, born on July 19, 1992 in Kazan. The KFU student is coached by Anatoliy Kulagin and Anatoliy Romanov.
