International Academic Council Offers New Ideas on KFU Development

International Academic Council of Kazan Federal University discussed further cooperation on January, 25.

Rector Ilshat Gafurov appealed to the floor: “The agenda of your meeting is highly topical. Yesterday you met with the heads of priority directions, acquainted with presentations and visited laboratories. Today we would like to get your feedback”.

Each member of the International Academic Council (IAC) shared his ideas on which research results and projects KFU should realize. For instance, Prof. Marat Yusupov (University of Strasbourg) offered to develop interaction with the University of Strasbourg in neurobiology and other areas, in addition to cooperation in chemoinformatics already in existence.

Prof. Rudolph Grimm (University of Innsbruck) commenced, “Kazan should be placed on the world map. It is a wonderful place where the science is developing. Everyone should learn it”.  Roland Oberhänsli (University of Potsdam) and John Round (University of Birmingham) supported this opinion.

Alexandre Varnek (University of Strasbourg) proposed to organize international expert council on expertise of international scientific projects. “Joint Master’s and PhD programs should be developed with international universities. Young scholars must act as bridges between different countries. We already have positive experience”, he declared.

Moreover, the participants of the meeting expressed the idea that the scholars who go abroad should take special courses in advance. For example, Indian Master’s and graduate students take profound language and scientific preparatory courses before going abroad.

The results of the day will be featured in Protocol. It is planned that IAC meetings will be held annually. Working contacts between KFU and the members of IAC will be supported on a permanent basis.
