April 23: KFU was visited by a delegation of Sofia University headed by its Rector I.Ilchev and Advisor to the President of Bulgaria P.Kynev.

There are long contacts that connect our two Universities. Thus, in 1991 an agreement was concluded between respective departments of pedagogy, while since 2007 there has been a full-fledged agreement between the two institutions. According to the guests, one of Sofia University priorities is developing contacts with ex-USSR and Asian countries.

Rector Ilshat Gafurov discussed with his Bulgarian counterpart prospects of renewed collaborative relationships. Thus, natural science and philology were proposed as areas of mutual interest. The result of the meeting was signing the renewed agreement between the two Universities providing for joint master programs, faculty training in prospective areas, arranging joint conferences and workshops as well as establishing a joint Russian-Bulgarian lab for university education.
