KFU Rector Ilshat Gafurov, Minister of Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation, Nikolai Nikiforov, as well as Rector of Volga Region State Academy of Physical Culture, Sport and Tourism, Yusup Yakubov will start the Olympic torch relay in Kazan.
Deputy Director General of ANO Executive Committee of the Universiade, Igor Sivov, reported that in Tatarstan the Olympic torch relay will start on December, 30 at the railway station where it will be brought by a special train.
Then the torch will be brought to Bolgar and Sviyazhsk and in the evening – to the Universiade Village.
On December, 31 will start relay in Kazan. There will participate 370 torchbearers, among them are sportsmen Elena Migunova, Vasily Mosin, Svetlana Demina, singers Dina Garipova and Salavat Fatkhetdinov and others. Name of person who is going to fire the Olympic cauldron is kept in secret – we will know it only a few days before the event.
