KFU students celebrate UN day

October, 24 is a significant date for the United Nations Organization. Nearly 70 years ago, after the Second World War representatives of 51 countries established the UNO.

Countries that founded the organization, including the Soviet Union, set goals of maintaining global peace and security, developing friendly relations among nations and promoting social progress, better living conditions and improving state of affairs in human rights.

Due to its activities the UN has strengthened its authority over the last years. In 2001 the organization was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

Currently the UN includes 193 countries. UN remains a universal forum, endowed with a unique legitimacy, supporting structure of the international system of collective security, a key element of modern multilateral diplomacy.

Traditionally KFU students from the Institute of International Relations, History and Oriental Studies celebrate this day. Under the auspices of UN students from the Institute scientific community organized a conference  on UN activities in the 21st century, where participated General Director of the International Research Center for Islam History, Art and Culture IRCICA Halit Eren.

Dr. Halit Eren arrived at the conference with a translator. However, this was not necessary, because students spoke English fluently. English was chosen as language of the conference for the convenience of board and participants.

Dr. Halit Eren thanked the organizers for meeting, he shared his working experience in the International Organization of IRCICA with students. This organization has been working on the study of Islam history, art and culture. Recently Kazan Federal University and members of IRCICA signed a cooperation agreement. Their specialists will be engaged in joint restoration and digitization of rare oriental manuscripts kept in Kazan University.

At the initiative of the student community  series of activities were held on the eve of the UN day at KFU.
