IP protection and Biotechnologies from University of Arizona

October 7-11 – First Russian-American School on Design of new functional materials: education, science and technological innovations took place in Kazan. KFU was represented by 50 specialists from different departments – nano-materials, magnetic radiospectroscopy, laser physics and biotechnologies.

The workshop was tutored by professors Dominic Gervasio and Roberto Guzman from Arizona University on October 10.

American scholars presented the results of their research on the study and creation of composite nanoparticles with immobilized antibodies in photo-thermal therapy of tumors. The post-graduate student of the Department of Biochemistry Sergey Ryabichko presented the research directions of the Department and explained the operational activities of small innovative enterprises established with participation of KFU. Head of the Department of Biochemistry Farida Alimova invited American scholars to attend the Conference dedicated to 150th anniversary of the Department, Vice-Rector for Innovation Kashapov Nail offered to prepare a memorandum on cooperation.

 

Gary Witting, a practicing lawyer on intellectual property protection, gave legal advice on intellectual property protection in biotechnology and biochemistry.

The discussion resulted in the decision to launch a master specialty in Intellectual Property at the Engineering Institute of KFU, and Gary Witting expressed his readiness to consult on certain issues of this project.
