Professor Latypov participated in international conference European Computer Science Summit

On October 7 –9 was held annual international conference of the Association Informatics Europe the 9th European Computer Science Summit in Amsterdam (Netherlands). There participated heads of faculties and departments from European universities that train specialists in Computer Sciences. Kazan Federal University became a member of the Association Informatics Europe in 2013 and participated in this conference for the first time.  KFU was represented by the Institute of Computer Mathematics and Information Technologies.  Director of the Institute of Computer Mathematics and Information Technologies Rustam Latypov took part in this conference.

Conference was held in the Centre of Mathematics and Computer Sciences (CWI – Centrum Wiskunde&Informatica) that is famous for its cutting edge research in Computer Science and is located in Amsterdam Research Park.  The conference was attended by deans and heads of departments from leading European research centres in computer Science: National University of Singapore (№8 in QS ranking in Computer Science), ETH Zurich (№9 in QS ranking in computer Science), University of Edinburgh (№15 in QS ranking in computer Science), University of Amsterdam (№35 in QS ranking in Computer Science), Politecnico di Milano (№47 in QS ranking in Computer Science).  The majority of participants represented universities ranked among TOP-100 in Computer Science.

On October, 7 were organized workshops for deans Positioning science within university: hardcore or interdisciplinary; how to reach out? The most interesting reports were delivered by the Dean of Faculty of Computer Sciences David Rosenblum (National University of Singapore) devoted to The mother of all disciplines?, Deputy Head of Anthony Finkelstein (University College London) Been there, done that, got the t-shirt! as well as Deputy Department Tommi Mikkonen (Tampere University of Technology) Software - the new math. On October 8-9 were held conference sessions. Reports were devoted to gaps between academic science and startups, state role in financial innovations, patent problems. There were presented new European initiatives in Computer Science, was carried out round table dedicated to Entrepreneurship in Computer Science.

Director of the Institute of Computer Mathematics and Information Technologies discussed with Bertran Mayer (ETH), Pekka Orponen (Aaltо University), Camil Demetrescu (Sapienza - Universita di Roma) issues on inviting their employees to KFU and development of joint master programs and programs of double diploma of master degree.
