Kazan University opens a partner laboratory with Agilent Technologies

On October, 4 was held a grand opening of a joint laboratory for computer-aided design-center "KFU- Agilent" at the Institute of Physics of Kazan Federal University. Technology base of the laboratory is comprised of innovative equipment by Agilent Technologies with modern appliances of high-efficiency.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Prime Minister of Tatarstan Ildar Khalikov, KFU Rector Ilshat Gafurov, Vice President and General Sales Manager of EMEA Region at Agilent Technologies Benoit Neil and representative from state corporation Rostechnologies in Tatarstan Sergey Zagainov.

Ildar Khalikov expressed gratitude to Agilent Technologies and added that fact of appearing prospective projects that are tightly connected with manufacture of a final product cheers up.

Vice President and General Sales Manager of EMEA Region at Agilent Technologies Benoit Neil told about the history of his company underlining that there is a connection between innovations, measurement, progress, people and the work Agilent Company performs.

Head of the Department of Radio Physics Oleg Sherstyukov told about how this lab will operate and what plans can be made in the nearest future. In fact the point is that now we can simulate devices, processes without making them physically - we do that with a computer using this software. We received 12 licensed pieces of software with total cost about 250 million rubles. This is a very important contribution made by Agilent to our development! We are engaged in physical ways of information security, so we have our own tasks associated with a meteor radio propagation, time scales synchronization and mobile technologies. We can look through opportunities for using technologies jointly with physicians and microbiologists and, for example, create a product that can then be implemented in national economy. The lab will work not only for students but also for the purpose of re-training.

Honored guests were demonstrated potential of new laboratory, department members gave examples of available equipment use in a variety of fields - from medicine to agriculture and oil production.
