INSERM – KFU: new prospects for collaboration

On September, 9 was held meeting with INSERM delegation.

John Bruce Seal, Counsellor for Regional Research Policy, and Michael John Seagar, Director for
Research at INSERM, came to Kazan to participate in the opening of Neurobiological Lab and coincided with it International Research Conference “From Neuron to Brain”.

KFU Rector, Ilshat Gafurov, Vice-Rector for Research, Danis Nurgaliev, Vice-Rector for International Relations, Linar Latypov, Director of the Institute of Fundamental Medicine and Biology, Andrey Kiyasov, Head of Department of Genetics, Albert Rizvanov and Head of the Neurobiological Lab, Rustem Khazipov.        

Having highlighted “improvement of human health” as the main goal for collaboration, John Bruce Seal made presentation of his institute. Core of this presentation was the roadmap that indicated steps for developing cooperation between universities. After coming back to France INSERM representatives plan to have briefing with administration regarding relations with other universities and then make Memorandum of Understanding taking into account cooperation priorities.

According to Mr. Seal development of the International Lab requires one year.

Head of Neurobiological Lab mentioned development of Neurobiology, Genetics, Proteomics, Molecular Biology and Biochemistry. “International Lab” mentioned by Mr. Seal is deemed to be joint with INSERM.
