KFU to be one of the platforms for the Russian Quantum Centre laboratory

Russian Quantum Centre laboratories will appear in the capital of Tatarstan based on the platforms of Kazan Federal University and the Centre of Nanotechnologies of the Republic of Tatarstan. These prospects were discussed during the meeting organized by President of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Russian Quantum Centre, Sergey Belousov.

Professor of Physics, Director of the Centre of Quantum Optics of the Harvard University, Mikhail Lukin, German Physicist, Nobel Prize Winner in Physics in 2001, Wolfgang Ketterle, Director of the Russian Quantum Centre, Ruslan Yunusov, and Rector of Kazan Federal University, Ilshat Gafurov participated in the meeting.

Sides discussed the opportunity of establishing several experimental laboratories of the Russian Quantum Centre in Kazan. It is planned that these laboratories established under the auspices of the Russian Quantum Centre will attract scientists of world reputation to participate in research.

KFU Rector noted that for establishing these laboratories there are already operating facilities. In addition, there could be established laboratory of quantum memory, laboratory of quantum calculations and laboratory of new materials for quantum technologies.  

Rustam Minnikhanov positively treated the idea concerning establishing Russian Quantum Centre laboratories in Kazan.

Press centre of President of the Republic of Tatarstan informed that there had been expressed proposal to organize international conference on quantum technologies in 2014 in Kazan.
