The Russian pair, Alexander Shibayev and Antonina Savelyeva, took the third place at the table tennis (mixed double) competitions at Universiade held in Kazan.

Fighting to get into the final the Russian sportsmen lost to the Japanese sportsmen, Koki Niva/Misato Niva, in a persistent struggle with a score of 3-4 (11:9, 11:5, 11:1, 7:11, 8:11, 7:11, 7:11).
