KFU student Yana Martynova won the first gold medal in swimming for Russian team

The Russian team won 100 medals in the Kazan Universiade. The 100th medal belongs to Yana Martynova who won the gold in the women’s 400 m individual medley.

Yana Martynova, the graduate student of KFU Institute of Physical Education, Sport and Restorative Medicine, overcame the distance in 4:39.02. American Meghan Hawthorne (4:40.40) got silver, and the bronze went to the Japanese Sakiko Shimizu (4:42.09). The other Russian representative, Victoria Malyutina (4:46.18) placed eighth.

Yana Martynova has the silver medal of the world championship in Melbourne and the bronze medal of European championship-2008.
