On June, 13 the first Rector’s seminar on priority areas Opportunities of the KFU Institute of Medicine and Biology Equipment for complex studies in natural sciences was held in Kazan Federal University for the first time.

Except for Institute staff representatives of Kazan universities, Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan and medical institutions gathered at the event.

Ilshat Gafurov took the floor and greeted the participants. He told that we should pay attention to progressive areas, Medicine and Biotechnologies are among them.   

Further he informed about the recently purchased equipment for the Institute of Medicine and Biology that cost 400 mln rubles.  He added that it is necessary to bring clinical developments to practical medicine.

The first meeting showed the necessity for conducting such seminars. University scholars exhibited their developments before colleagues supporting reports with research carried out with the help of renovated equipment. Moreover, problem themes of this research area and science in whole were also discussed.   

Head of the Department of Microbiology, Doctor of Science in Biology, Olga Ilinskaya reported on capabilities of equipment at the Institute of Medicine and Biology which major part is located in the Eastern wing of the main building. She pointed out six units – Cytometry, Microscopy, Cell culture, Cultivation of aerobic microorganisms, Gas and fluid chromatography and Molecular Biology.

 In conclusion KFU Rector, Ilshat Gafurov, reported that the Rectorate came forward with initiative to increase the basic salary of the Assistant Lecturer up to 20,000 Rubles.
