Graduates and students of KFU will defend honour of our country at the XXVII World Summer Universiade

Less than one month is left before a grandiose event, to which Kazan has been getting prepared for several years, is launched: on July 06, 2013 the XXVII World Summer Universiade will start.

This April at a press conference devoted to a visit of a delegation of the International Federation of University Sport (FISU) to the capital of Tatarstan it was announced as follows: Universiade held in Kazan will become a champion in the whole history of such competitions both by the participants quantity of and quantity of medals challenged for.

According to forecasts of specialists, Russian national team will have the strongest membership, including: over 25 Olympic champions, 50 Olympic medalists, more than 100 International-Class Masters of Sports. It’s very pleasant to underline that Kazan Federal University is brightly represented in the national team: 15 KFU students and graduates will defend honour of our country and eight more students have been included in the reserves.

The Director of the Institute of Physical Education, Sport and Restorative Medicine, Mr. Iskander Galeyev, shared information on forecasts of the forthcoming competitions: “KFU will be represented by strong sportsmen, and we hope that all of them will be among prize-winners of the Universiade. Obvious contenders for victory are: Mikhail Idrisov, Ruslan Samitov, Yuliya Zaripova, Aleksey Obmochayev, Ildar Giniyatullin and Yana Martynova. We wish success to all of them. Let them always remember that they are students of Kazan Federal University and worthily represent our University at the international level.”
