The next academic year a US teacher will give lectures to students of KFU branch in Elabuga

On October 01, 2013 one more teacher will appear at the Faculty of Foreign Languages of KFU Branch in Elabuga. Ms. Hope McCasey Johnson will deliver lectures to Elabuga students in the framework of Fulbright program for exchange of teachers of English.

Annually about 25 American grant holders come to Russia in the framework of Fulbright program as assistant lecturers of the English language. They are “bound” to a university in any of Russian cities (whether a large city or a provincial one), where they deliver their lectures during the whole academic year. The program is financed by the US State Department.

Ms. Hope McCasey Johnson will arrive in Elabuga from Massachusetts. She is 21 years old; she is a Bachelor of Arts. In her native college of Gordon (USA) she has founded a linguistic club, and she even is a member of a basketball team.

Ms. Hope McCasey has visited Russia for three times already: being a volunteer she worked in Vladimir and Nizhniy Novgorod as a teacher of the Russian (!) language. “Work as an assistant teacher suits me pretty well, as I am planning to proceed with this work either in Russia or in the USA. I have acquired not only a language experience, but also knowledge about culture of the country. The gained experience, a wish to work in Russia and teach English for Russian-speaking audience will contribute to my goal achievement”, – confessed Ms. Hope McCasey Johnson.

By the way, it’s not the first time that KFU branch in Elabuga has won a Fulbright program grant: in the previous year a teacher from the USA, Mr. Jan Crovesier, gave lectures to students of the Faculty of Foreign Languages.

On September 21, 2013 Fulbright program grant holders will get together in Moscow, where preparation trainings will be held first. Then they will leave for different cities of Russia. As early as on the 1st of October students of KFU branch in Elabuga will get an opportunity to study English with a native-speaker.
