Mr. Akhmetzhan Yesimov, the Akim (Mayor) of Almaty, the Republic of Kazakhstan, visited KFU

Today, on the 16th of May, a delegation from the Republic of Kazakhstan headed by the akim (mayor) of Almaty-city, Mr. Akhmetzhan Yesimov, visited Kazan Federal University.

Mr. Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, arrived at KFU together with the guests. Before the visit to KFU representatives of Kazakhstan were shown the largest sports venues of the forthcoming World Summer Universiade and IT-park.

In the Museum of History of Kazan University Mr. Akhmetzhan Yesimov acquainted himself with the exposition and communicated with students from Kazakhstan studying in KFU. Addressing his countrymen the akim underlined as follows: “You are studying in the university with a more than 200-year history. Great personalities worked here, and multiple discoveries were made in the University, as well. The today’s staff also consists of highly qualified specialists.” Akim shared his impressions on how Kazan was getting prepared for Universiade. He showed an exacting interest towards it as far as Winter Student Games will be held in Almaty in 2017.

Akim Akhmetzhan Yesimov made the following memorial entry in the Honoured Guests Book: “I am happy to visit the Federal University with a 200-year history. I wish success to the faculty, students and all employees!”
