Final stage of competition for Schlumberger scholarship

April 9 - the leading oilfield services provider Schlumberger held the final stage of competitive selection process for the scholarship.

Student classrooms at KFU will be equipped with 11 Petrel licensed platforms for geological and geophysical modeling, ECLIPSE reservoir simulator, PetroMod simulation software for modeling of hydrocarbon basins and PIPESIM software for the analysis of production systems. Transfer of licenses was set up at the beginning of 2012 when the official signing of the framework agreement on cooperation between the KFU and Schlumberger took place.

It is important to note that the scholarship candidates have to be last-year students or graduate students of engineering or natural science disciplines such as mechanics, mathematics, information technology, chemistry, physics, geology, geophysics, oil and gas industry. Applicants should have good English, have a proactive stance, the average academic score of at least 4.6 and strong teamwork skills.

After preliminary selection, including documental requirements of the contest and an essay on "Why is obtaining a Schlumberger scholarship important to me?", students were interviewed in English with a chance to present their graduate papers.

It should be noted that the company provides funding to the best students of Russian universities in order to develop and strengthen cooperation with leading higher schools, as well as support talented young people in the study of exact sciences, natural sciences and engineering.

According to the results of the contest, the company provides a one-time scholarship of 45,000 RUB. The best students will be offered an internship with the opportunity to establish contacts with companies involved in cutting-edge technologies and, in case of successful completion, they will be offered job opportunities at the company.
