A Visit of the US Embassy Representatives to the Faculty of Law

On March 18, 2013 a visit of the US Embassy representatives to the Faculty of Law was organized in the framework of cooperation with the Embassy of the USA in the sphere of intellectual property protection problems.

An open lecture on the topic: “Internet-piracy. Experience of the USA in fighting with copyrights infringement in Internet, cooperation between the USA and Russia in this sphere”, delivered by Mr. Donald Townsend (intellectual property attaché in Russia and CIS countries, the First Secretary of the Embassy of the USA in Russia), aroused a great interest. Not only students and teachers of the Faculty of Law, but also post-graduate students and teachers from other KFU Departments, taking interest in modern problems of intellectual activity results usage in Internet, attended the lecture.


Discussion of urgent problems of copyright protection proceeded during the round table devoted to the topic: “Computer crime as a threat to information security”, in which representatives of business and law-enforcement bodies took part. There were lines of further cooperation in the sphere of research into urgent problems of intellectual property right charted out according to the results of the meeting.
