Lecture on principles of external policy of Turkish Republic

On February, 19 a public lecture by Consul General of Turkish Republic in Kazan Sabri Tunch Angyli was organized in Kazan Federal University. It was devoted to the question of “Turkish external policy and international law”.

This lecture was organized by the Faculty of Law of KFU.

Consul General paid great attention to the external policy of Turkey. After showing the map of the Turkish Republic the guest started to explain its relations with neighboring states. Iran, Iraq, Syria and European states encouraged development of Turkey under influence of two cultures and this explains its current external policy. According to Sabri Tunch Angili Turkish policy consists of two main principles: development of peaceful relations with all states and participation in peacekeeping activity all around the world.

In conclusion Consul General stated the principle that reflects the main poins of the current external policy of the Turkish Republic: If during the cold war the main stress point was Europe, now the main stress point is the location of Turkish Republic (Middle East and Northern Africa). While the Turkish Republic will conduct peacekeeping activity in its region, the whole world will stay in stable condition”.
