KFU remembers and esteems its famous graduate Fikriyat Tabeev

Exhibition dedicated to the forthcoming anniversary of the famous graduate of KSU- Soviet party and state leader, diplomat Fikriyat Tabeev was opened in the Museum of History of Kazan Federal University.

On March, 4 he will be 85 years old. Throughout his life Fikriyat Tabeev was devoted to the work for the benefit of our country and our Republic, and this is the reason why he was awarded with five Orders of Lenin, and in the day of his 80th birthday the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev awarded him with the Order of Merits.

Life of a distinguished graduate is inseparably connected with Tatarstan. In 1960 he became the youngest First Secretary of the Regional Committee of Communist Party of the Soviet Union in the history of the USSR, Fikriyat Tabeev occupied this position for almost 20 years and these were the years when the Republic transformed from a mainly agricultural region into one of the leading industrial centers. While he was the First Secretary there were built "Kazanorgsintez", "Nizhnekamskneftekhim", KamAZ, regional power station in Zainsk and hydroelectric power station in Nizhnekamsk. Tatarstan oil industry workers reached annual production output of "black gold" in the amount of 100 million. Years when Tabeev guided Tatarstan, were also marked with development in science and culture. For example, the original buildings of Circus and Tatar Academic Drama Theater n.a. Kamal were erected, Kazan symphony orchestra under guidance of prominent conductor Nathan Rakhlin got all-union recognition.

Being a wise leader who can work at full capacity, Fikriyat Tabeev showed himself in a diplomatic field. During the dramatic relations between countries he became Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Soviet Union in Afghanistan.

Documents from the Central State Archive of historical and political documents of the Republic of Tatarstan  are presented in the Museum of History of Kazan University on the occasion of the anniversary of the famous graduate. Among them there is an autobiography written by Fikriyat Tabeev, and the decision of October, 28, 1960 on his election as the first secretary of the Regional Committee and two books – “Fikriyat Tabeev” and “Fikriyat Tabeev. Thanks and against the fate". By the way, the last book was published with the support of the President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and initiators of its creating were colleagues and companions of the famous diplomat.

The exhibition features many photographic materials. On the photos he was captured with the KSU Rector Mikhail Nuzhin and the Chair of Council of Ministers of USSR Alexey Kosygin, Secretaries of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and colleagues. It is interesting that in the Museum of History and you can look through personal records of the student and postgraduate student Fikryat Tabeev: there are presented not only carefully saved student ID card and record book, but also photos of student time. Kazan University remembers and appreciates its talented graduate!

For information: Fikriyat Tabeev was born on March 4, 1928 in Azeevo village of Ermishinsk District of Ryazan region. He is an Honorary citizen of Kazan (2008) and Naberezhnye Chelny (2008).

In 1951 he graduated from Kazan State University. In 1951- 1952 – he worked as Assistant Professor of Department of Political Economy at KSU n.a. Ulyanov - Lenin. In 1952-1954 he worked as Lecturer in the Department Political Economy. In 1955 - 1957 – he worked as Lecturer and Associate Professor at the Department of Political Economy at KSU. In 1957- 1959 he worked as the Head of Department of schools and science of the Tatar Regional Committee of the CPSU. In 1959 - 1960 – he was appointed as the Secretary of the Tatar Regional Committee of the CPSU.

In 1979 - 1986 he worked as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the USSR in Afghanistan. Since 1986 he has worked as the First Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the RSFSR. Since 1992 he has worked as the Chairman of the Russian Federal Property Fund. Since 1995 he has been working as a senior adviser to the holding company "Neftek."
