The delegation from Moscow visited on April 20th.

Rector Gafurov welcomed the guests and spoke briefly about the University's strategy and current affairs. He said, in particular, “We have reached saturation in some areas by now. We adhere to the University 3.0 strategy and chose the path of technology transfer. There is now an innovation “belt” forming around the University. We started this work two years ago and have achieved tangible results. On the one hand, we add to the institutional budget thanks to research contracts, on the other hand, there are problems because we have limitations when it comes to developing in all directions simultaneously”.

The Rector also touched on the University's structure and principles of inter-departmental cooperation.

Professor Sobolevski in his response noted that his Institute is as complex in its structure as KFU. The main difficulty that arises often is the difference in work pace between different departments, “I think a project lab is a lab where the new generation and seasoned professionals are in balance. We and you have much in common, and we also try to retain young and talented staff. We want to breathe new life into mathematics, and your cooperation proposal has attracted us”.

Dr. Gafurov thereupon talked about the Lobachevsky Year and the Lobachevsky Medal and Prize. He used the opportunity to invite the guests to the opening ceremony of the Lobachevsky Museum (tentatively scheduled for September 2017).

The delegation further plans to visit several institutes of KFU as well as both lyceums and the Universiade Village. The second round of negotiations is then planned to take place.
