They had a discussion with the guest about the Institute’s activity, emphasizing international relations. To date 209 students from eight countries, including Turkey, are studying at the IPA. As Radif Rifkatovich noted, he was surprised when in 2012 eight Turkish students entered the Department of Russian language (altogether fourteen students). Director said that the University has established the contacts with Turkish universities and individual scientists; the University staff aims at working closely with them, because the experience of Turkish colleagues is interesting for the institute.

Mr. Sabri Tunch Angili explained: Russian language is popular among Turkish youths because it is an advantage when applying for a job. According to him, Russian capital has occupied a significant niche in the Republic of Turkey. Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Kazan was very glad to visit the Institute of Philology and Arts of KFU. He joked that from the first days of his staying in Kazan he wanted to visit that "beautiful building".

During the meeting they discussed the ways of achieving the close cooperation and points to begin with. First of all, we decided to sign a number of agreements between the Institute of Philology and Arts of KFU and Turkish institutions. It will allow to organize student and teacher exchanges, joint conferences, seminars and research programs. The other organizational questions were also discussed. Mr. Sabri Tunch Angili promised full support to Kazan scientists who are interested in study and promotion of the language and cultural traditions of Turkey.

In the second part of the visit the Consul General met with Turkish students of the Institute of Philology and Arts. Young people willingly talked with their influential countryman about their Turkish provinces, their life in Kazan and knowledge gained during their study in KFU. Many students noted that Russians know very little about their great country.
