New Technologies and Products Presented at VuzPromExpo

Minister Olga Vasilyeva visited the KFU's booth at the biggest higher education tech expo in Moscow.

Vice-Rector for Innovation Andrey Artemyev demonstrated the best that University can offer.

In particular, there was a joint project by the Institute of Chemistry and Kazan Synthetic Rubber Plant called “Import-substituting technology of Pt(0)-based catalysts for silicon rubber mixes of high-temperature hardening and liquid silicon rubbers”. The demo showed the process of pouring the substance with the catalyst into a mold.

After that Ms. Vasilyeva saw a 3D model of an oil reservoir with viscous oil. The Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies and Tatneft work together on new methods of heavy oil extraction. The project includes a number of methods of geophysical monitoring of steam cameras for the extraction of heavy oils and bitumen by steam-assisted gravity drainage. The Minister was informed about the technology of steam injection and its monitoring.

The Institute of Engineering, the Republican Clinical Hospital, and Kazan State Medical University work on 3D bioprinting technologies for bone tissues. The KFU-made 3D printer uses gelatin to produce bio-compatible prosthetics and implants. Each element is produced for a patient personally, thus making this complex an element of personalized medicine of the future.

The Institute of Environmental Sciences presented a state-funded project by the name of «Prevention of pesticidal soil pollution by the use of suppressive composts». A suppressive compost – an eco-friendly fertilizer - is produced by introducing specific bacteria strains into agricultural and cattle farming waste. The composting is also a KFU’s own development. A container with compost-based plants was also shown.

Finally, the Higher School of ITIS brought its virtual simulator of Dakar Rally.

Olga Vasilyeva expressed praise of the University's work and its practical significance.
