Students Discover New Options in Cooperation with Portugal

Paulo Santos, Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of Portugal in Russia, visited Kazan University on November 28th.

As Deputy Santos quipped, he decided to visit the city immediately upon hearing that Russia and Portugal will meet early during the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup - right here in Kazan. He toured the museums and met with Vice-Rector for Foreign Relations Linar Latypov.

KFU currently has several agreements with Portuguese universities, among them University of Coimbra, New University of Lisbon, and University of Porto. The research areas are medicine, linguistics, multicultural education, and others; there have been 51 joint publications so far.

The Deputy said, «I met with the students of your University today. Apparently, there are many people at this Institute [of International Relations, History and Oriental Studies] who study Portuguese language. I am glad that it is so, and I want to encourage them».

According to a recent poll among students, Portuguese is one of the top languages that our youth showed interest in. So they are invested in a more broad cooperation with this country as well.
