Projects and Prospects of Russia - Finland Cooperation

G.R.Shaikhutdinova, Doctor of Law, Professor of KFU Department of International and European Law spoke about the productive scientific exchange and her work on educational and methodical complex of European law at the University of Helsinki. It was performed within the frameworks of the grant of the European Union Center VOICES of Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University.

Helsinki met with drizzling rain, sullen drifts on roadsides and blistering wind from the sea. It was absolutely different from the warmth and attention paid to me by my colleagues from the University of Helsinki - Dean of the Law Faculty, Professor Kimmo Nuotio and other teachers. The interest in cooperation with Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University is due to priority area of international cooperation of the Law Faculty of University of Helsinki (Russia and China).

Dean Kimmo Nuotio plans to establish Faculty Center of Russian Law on the analogy of existent sociological and economic centers. There is a variety of student courses of Russian law but they are not enough. Finland has set a strategic task to learn basic law rights of “large neighbor”. The policy of cooperation with Russia is manifested in the economy, culture and science.

Teaching at Finnish universities is conducted in Finnish and in English, too. Today Faculty of Law of the University of Helsinki is ready to enroll our graduates to Master’s Degree Programs in "Public International Law" and "International Business Law" (in English) for free.

Personal impressions would not be complete without a visit to the library, the University’s crown jewel, an 8-storied modern building which has everything you need for important scientific research.
