Professor Christoph Schick Made First Preparations for the High-Speed Calorimetry Lab Opening

Dr. Schick will helm the project that won a Russian government grant of 90 million rubles this past September.

The guest from Rostock University has been in Kazan this whole week and plans to depart today. This is his first visit to Kazan – a city where he will work for three years.

Professor Schick and Professor Boris Solomonov’s (Chair of the Department of Physical Chemistry) group are one of the 40 winners of the latest megagrant contest that was held In Kazan University.

This new project includes the creation of the High-Speed Calorimetry Lab that will study different materials, mostly polymers and their composites. Christoph Schick is the author of this research method. The study of low-volatile compounds is of special interest for industrial safety measures, such as those for fast heating-freezing transitions, filters, etc.

During this visit Professor Schick has given his recommendations about the equipment and other details. The project itself will start in January 2017 after the first money transfer. The lab head will then move to Kazan permanently for the next three years and immerse himself into research and education here.
