A delegation from BISU visited on October 17th. 

The guests were welcomed by Vice-Rector Linar Latypov and Deputy Director of the Institute of Philology Gulnara Sadykova. The three guests from China were Vice-Rector of BISU Zhu Gonghao, Dean of the Faculty of Russian Language Zhan Huiqin and Deputy Director of BISU College Rao Qikang.

There are BISU students among the more than 500 Chinese nationals currently studying at KFU. Dr. Zhu noted that many Chinese students choose KFU, mostly because of the already existing reputation as a friendly institution and its positions in global rankings.

The sides decided on establishing a joint master program in philology. The graduates will receive double KFU/BISU diplomas after spending time at both universities. The first program to open will be Russian as a foreign language.

Vice-Rector Latypov proposed holding a joint conference on Chinese studies and linguistics at KFU. Conferences, as he noted, are the best way to make close acquaintances between academics. The Chinese colleagues also talked about expanding online education for the students of both countries and exchanging e-library resources.

BISU College, a one-year pre-university preparatory school, may soon introduce a Russian language program created by KFU. There are also plans to launch Russian language summer schools in Kazan and advanced training in intercultural communication for the teaching staff.
