Japanese Business Interested in Kazan University's Projects

A delegation, headed by Special Advisor to the Prime Minister of Japan Hasegawa Eiichi, visited KFU on August 8th.

Before the University the guests came to the Government of Tatarstan offices to meet with President Rustam Minnikhanov. Rector Ilshat Gafurov was also present. President Minnikhanov suggested expanding cooperation on the interregional level, and a search for new sister cities is now underway. He also thanked the Japanese Cabinet of Ministers for facilitating his visit to Tokyo in March 2016.

KFU was the next stop. Rector Gafurov met the visitors and offered his vision of the potential cooperation projects. Namely, KFU now concentrates on establishing engineering and training centers for the companies that plan to invest in Tatarstan. Researchers can visit such companies’ countries of origin to study their technologies, corporate culture, and traditions, and then work on arranging the companies’ work in the Republic. Such a project has already been put in place together with the Chinese manufacturing powerhouse Haier at the Naberezhnye Chelny Institute.

Vice-Rector Dmitry Tayursky then presented the KFU’s current potential to the delegation. After a brief greeting in Japanese (Dr. Tayursky spent quite some time in Japan for his research) he spoke about strategic academic units and joint Japanese-KFU works. An overview of the Medical Simulation Center was then given.
