1. Russia and the EU: the future of Europe and Eurasia

International Conference, Russian Academy of Sciences Institute of Europe, Moscow, 15-16 April 2013.
 
The UACES EU-Russia Collaborative Research Network (CRN), coordinated by Jackie Gower, Graham Timmins and Derek Averre, wishes to announce the above event. The EU-Russia CRN has already held a number of events and the aim of this conference is to build on the profile of the network, drawing in academics and experts from UACES and the Russian European Studies Association, located within the Russian Academy of Sciences Institute of Europe (IERAS), which is hosting the conference and providing in-kind support. The conference will examine key issues within the EU-Russia policy framework, in particular Russian policy with regard to relations with the EU and emerging integration processes in Eurasia.  It will bring together leading academics and experts from Europe and Russia as well as young scholars who will be the future generation working in this field.
Provisional keynote speakers will be the EU Ambassador to Moscow, His Excellency Fernando M. Valenzuela, and the Deputy Director of IERAS Professor Alexey Gromyko. Invitees will include officials from the European Delegation in Moscow, which has agreed to host a reception at the conference, the UK Embassy and the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. A number of bursaries (£500 each) will be provided to cover the travel, accommodation and subsistence costs of young researchers (PhD students and post-docs) from Russia and Europe, to be decided competitively by peer review on the basis of paper proposals. Anyone wishing to submit a paper proposal should contact Lance Davies, CREES, University of Birmingham (lsd237@bham.ac.uk). The deadline for paper proposals is Monday 28 January 2013.

2. UACES 43rd Annual Conference Leeds,

2-4 September

Join us in Leeds for a three day interdisciplinary conference covering all aspects of European Studies, at which we expect 300-400 research papers will be presented.
